Nomar Mazara's first major-league at-bat was the epitome of the Earnest Byner Jerseytype of player he's about to become. The Texas Rangers outfielder got into his stance, tapped his foot in the batter's box and waited for Jered Weaver to deliver the pitch.

After working a 2-2 count, the veteran Weaver attempted to back-door the rookie with a curve ball on the outside corner. His command was a bit off, though, and the pitch drifted away from the strike zone.

It didn't matter.http://www.redskinsshopnfl.com/Authentic-Jason-Hatcher-Jersey Mazara recognized the offering, reached out with his bat head and casually flipped the ball into right field for his first major-league hit.

Despite the fact that it was the biggest moment in his professional career, Mazara maintained a serene demeanor. He was unflinching, patient and displayed a mature approach to hitting far beyond his years. It was the type of at-bat you would expect from a 10-year veteran, not a 20-year-old rookie.

If it seemed like he wasn't fazed by the moment, that's because he wasn't.

“Not really," Mazara says. "I just was locked in. Trying to do what I can do. Just go out there http://www.redskinsshopnfl.com/Authentic-Joe-Theismann-Jerseytry to have fun and get the first one out of the way.” He's already speaking like a veteran.

Mazara's early callup resembles that of Chicago Cubs slugger Kris Bryant last season. There wasn't a debate about whether the Rangers needed to open the season with Mazara on the major-league roster, but it was inevitable that he would be up at some point this year.

Now that he's reached the majors,D.J. Hayden Jersey Mazara is part of the next batch of great, talented youngsters ready to explode onto the scene. Last year produced Bryant, Carlos Correa and Francisco Lindor, among many others. This season, the youth infusion begins with Mazara.

Rookies have already dominated in 2016. Both Trevor Story and Tyler White took home Player of the Week hardware after the first week of the regular season. They managed to succeed despite not being ranked on prospect lists coming into the year. Mazara came into the season as a highly-ranked prospect. While Story and White have already set the bar pretty high, Mazara is expected to be much better.

Mazara's calm attitude has earned him the nickname "The Big Chill." No, not after the 1983 movie, http://www.raidersnflprostore.com/Authentic-Dan-Williams-Jerseybut because he makes everything look effortless on the field.

"Oh yeah. That's on Twitter," Mazara says while laughing. "I mean, yeah. Why not?"

As long as he can remember, Mazara's had that casual approach. His ability to control his emotions and never allow a moment to get out of hand should serve him well in a game built on making mistakes.
