Pistons used its best defensive beat Grizzlies Jersey

The Pistons, who have won two straight after their playoff hopes evaporated, had six players score in double figures.
So far, it’s working well for the Pistons, even though it won’t get them to the playoffs.
After going away from his starting lineup and utilizing his younger and less-experienced players, Pistons coach Stan Van Gundy stuck with it for a second straight game, giving a nod to Reggie Bullock, Boban Marjanovic and Darrun Hilliard.
The ploy paid off again http://www.officialmarlinstore.com/Jose_Fernandez_Jersey, as the Pistons dominated the third quarter and held on in the final period, taking a 103-90 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies on Sunday evening at FedEx Forum. It’s the second straight road win — and just their 13th of the season.
The Pistons (37-43) held the Grizzlies to 10 points in the third quarter and ran away with a 103-90 victory at the FedEx Forum that meant little to either team.
And the reserves took care of the rest in the fourth quarter when they pulled away from the Memphis Grizzlies when it turned into a battle of B-teams Sunday.
“We made that run against their main guys, that was the impressive part,” Pistons coach Stan Van Gundy said. “Obviously (Grizzlies coach David Fizdale) shut it down and we played younger guys against younger guys, but in the third quarter that run was made against their main guys, their starters, so that was the impressive part to me.”
Bullock finished with 14 points, Marjanovic had a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds, and Beno Udrih scored 11 for the Pistons, who surged behind a 27-10 margin in the third quarter to erase a 57-48 deficit at halftime.
The Grizzlies (43-38) took their largest lead, 60-48, after a free throw by Mike Conley (15 points) and a jumper by JaMychal Green (12 points).
The Pistons http://www.officialpistonstore.com/Ish_Smith_Jersey answered with 10 straight points, including a jumper and free throw by Ish Smith (11 points). Jon Leuer added a reverse lay-in, Bullock made a jumper and Tobias Harris (12 points) drained a 3-pointer, cutting the deficit to 60-58 with 7:18 left in the third.
Conley ended the run with a drive and after a Smith jumper, Conley was fouled on a 3-pointer and made all three free throws. The Pistons responded with another run, scoring nine straight points, with back-to-back 3-pointers by Bullock and three free throws by Marjanovic.
The Pistons finished the period with consecutive 3-pointers by Stanley Johnson and Hilliard (13 points) for a 75-67 lead.
Ellenson is averaging 10 rebounds per game in the last two games with Van Gundy giving him extended minutes.
But he wasn’t shooting well until a 3-for-5 second half from downtown. Van Gundy joked that he liked the way Ellenson was playing, but it looked like he was joining the team’s shooting woes.
So the marksmanship was welcome.
“It was nice to get those threes up late in the game and I thought the way we closed out as a team was real big. Everyone hitting shots, everyone moving the ball around. That was a lot of fun.”
All ten Pistons that received playing time scored at least five points, as the team was 14-for-28 from three-point range.
Mike Conley scored 15 points for the http://www.officialmarlinstore.com/Dustin_Mcgowan_Jersey Grizzlies, who are seventh in the Western Conference and assured a first-round playoff matchup against San Antonio.
The Grizzlies (43-38) took a 57-48 lead at halftime behind hot three-point shooting.
The Grizzlies shot 8-for-15 from deep with JaMychal Green and Vince Carter both going 2-for-2.
Nine Pistons scored in the first half, led by nine from Tobias Harris.
Pistons coach Stan Van Gundy said he wanted to get an extended look at Marjanovic, Ellenson and Stanley Johnson over the final three games and they delivered during a 15-2 run to close the third quarter.
Marjanovic converted three of four free throw attempts. The last two gave the Pistons a 69-65 lead with 1:08 remaining in the third.
Johnson and Ellenson nailed consecutive three-pointers to send the Pistons to a 75-67 lead after three quarters.
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Detroit Pistons used its best defensive stand in weeks to take control in the third quarter.

But Hilliard answered with a jumper, Udrih hit a 3-pointer and Henry Ellenson (nine points) hit two straight 3-pointers to push the lead to 94-84. Hilliard capped the run with another 3-pointer for a 13-point advantage.
The Grizzlies http://www.officialpistonstore.com/Allen_Iverson_Jersey, who were playing without Zach Randolph, didn’t get much closer the rest of the way as they’re locked into the No. 7 seed in the Western Conference. They will face the second-seeded San Antonio Spurs in the first round of the playoffs.
Darrun Hilliard scored 12 of 14 points in the fourth quarter.Boban Marjanovic scored 14 points and Henry Ellenson scored nine points on three three-pointers. He nailed two in a row in the fourth quarter to stretch the Pistons' lead to 94-84 with 4:09 remaining.
