Irving becomes Cavaliers No. 2 playoff scorer Jersey
20-April-2017 17:24
Monday night, late in the third quarter of Game 2 between the Cavaliers and Pacers, Irving gave Lance Stephenson a first-hand look at just how good his dribbling skills are. With the Cavs already up 91-75, Irving came off a Kevin Love screen, and began dribbling towards the lane.
This was the first time that LeBron, Love Brett Connolly Authentic Jersey and Kyrie all had at least 25 points in the same playoff game since joining forces in advance of the 2015 season. The defensive problems won’t matter much if Cleveland can find a way to keep the offense clicking like this.
The Cavaliers have had lapses on the defensive end of the floor all season long, but when they’re clicking on offense the way they were against the Pacers on Monday, they’re almost impossible to stop. Behind a game-high 37 points from Kyrie Irving, Cleveland came away with a 117-111 Game 2 victory that put the Cavaliers up 2-0 in the best-of-seven-series.
Cleveland led by as many as 13 points in the first half, but 11 turnovers in the first two periods allowed the Pacers to stay in the game, and the Cavaliers led by just five heading into break. Paul George and LeBron James had 18 and 17 points respectively, and each had their fair share of highlight-worthy dunks.
In Game 1, the Pacers kept finding themselves with Jeff Teague switched onto LeBron James, and the results went exactly as you’d expect. In this one, Lance Stephenson was matched up against the much taller Kevin Love in the third, and Love responded by going on a personal 10-0 run as the Cavaliers continued to exploit the mismatch as long as the Pacers stayed with it. Irving added 14 points in the period, and Cleveland’s lead ballooned to as many as 19 points.
The third quarter is where the Cavaliers took complete control, and at least part of the damage was due to Indiana’s defensive scheme.
The Pacers made a late run thanks to one of those defensive lapses we mentioned, but the Cavaliers sealed the victory with a nifty out of bounds play that led to an easy bucket for Irving, followed by a fierce rejection at the rim by James that helped to wrap things up.
George was magnificent for the Pacers, finishing with 32 points, eight rebounds and seven assists. The only consistent offensive http://www.officialpistonstore.com/Reggie_Jackson_Jersey help he got was from Teague, but the Indiana point guard got torched so badly by Irving that his 23 points and four assists went largely unnoticed.
CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Cavaliers legend Mark Price took to Twitter during Game 2 of the Eastern Conference opening round against Indiana to congratulate Kyrie Irving on passing him on the team's all-time playoff scoring list.
The No. 1 guy on the list, of course, is LeBron James.
Irving entered Monday's game No. 3 on the list with 800 postseason points, 19 away from passing Price (818).
With a 3-pointer midway through the third quarter, Irving reached 21 points to pass Price.
Price, who played with the Cavaliers from 1986-95, appeared in 47 playoff games for the Cavaliers, averaging 17.4 points while shooting 46.4 percent from the field.
Irving, in 36 playoff games, has averaged 23.2 points per game.
Kyrie Irving is extremely http://www.officialcapitalsauthentic.com/Tj_Oshie_Jersey good at dribbling a basketball. Besides being a flat-earth truther, it's probably what Irving is best known for on the basketball court, as evidenced by the fact that if you type in his name on YouTube, "crossover" and "handles" are some of two of the first search suggestions.
But he quickly put on the brakes, whipping a low crossover from his right hand back to his left, which left Stephenson stumbling, as his momentum carried him the other way. With the newly created space, Irving rose up and drilled a jumper, which extended the Cavs' lead to 18.
Kyrie Irving continues to etch his place as an all-time great Cavaliers , and when he crossed the 19-point threshold, he passed Mark Price to move to second on the all-time leaderboard for Cavalier playoff scoring.
The fact that Irving is already second on this list is absolutely incredible. He is 17th in playoff games for the franchise, so this isn’t just a factor of volume. Sure, the Cavaliers have been to the Finals two years in a row, but Irving missed a ton of the action in his first playoff series, so this is really a byproduct of some pretty insane volume.
LeBron is currently the all-time leader for the franchise, with 3,266 points going into tonight’s Game 2. Price, now third, sits at 818, which shows the enormous gulf between LeBron and literally everybody else.
The fact that Kyrie Irving is currently shooting 46 percent from the field and 43 percent from three on 18 attempts per game is a testament to how unreal his scoring ability is, and that will always have value when things get tight in the postseason. My guess is that he’ll never come close to number one on the list, but there won’t be anybody wearing Wine and Gold that will come close to his spot on the leaderboard for a very, very long time.
Until some of Kyrie’s plus-minus metrics improve, there will Mateen Cleaves Authentic Jersey always be a debate about his value in the league. That said, it’s really hard to score in the postseason, when all your plays have been scouted and teams are specifically trying to take away what you do well.
